About Yokohama
Yokohama is located in the centre of Japan, along the coastline of Japan's Pacific Ocean, southwest next to capital of Tokyo. The average temperature of Yokohama in June is about 22 degrees centigrade and the humidity is relatively high. The total population of Yokohama is 3,650,000 persons as of March 1, 2009, making the city the second largest in Japan after Tokyo.
Yokohama is the first harbor city opened to the world in 1859 as the entrance to Japan. After that, Yokohama has been acquiring new cultures and information from foreign countries and introducing them to Japan, which entitles Yokohama as one of the birthplaces of Japan's modern culture. People in Yokohama, called as "Hamakko" in Japanese, have been very cheerful at enjoying life and willing to adopt whatever is good.
